#2 - Key Item SS16

As seasons change so does fashion, and in the last few ones we could see the rise of the middle eastern countries taking over the fashion industry little by little. From hosting fashion shows of big designers such as Dior and Chanel in Dubai, to the resemblance of ethnical Moroccan themes used in patterns. I think that we can see that the cultural aspect is largely showing thanks to those changes in the fashion world. After researching in Trend Council and WGSN, it is clear what is going to be the biggest trend of spring/summer 2016. Morocco. Which of course could be related to any other Middle Eastern/North African country in that area.

This trend could be used in many ways. The warm earth colors, the strong ethnical patterns which bohemians would highly appreciate, and many metallic touches on garments or accessories. However I decided to pick an item which comes from this trend, or more accurately from these countries. The turban. I picked this item by using the forecasting trends and some street investigation. Therefore, the trickle up fashion theory is what I saw. The Turban is used commonly as a cultural item in many Middle Eastern countries by men and women in Africa. lately more and more people wear the turban as a statement item to go along with their black, cut-out jeans and white, oversized T-shirt, for example. It adds color to a basic casual outfit and completely spices up the overall style.

The turban is being seen in some of the runways lately, so it obviously has an affect on the fashion world and not just on the streets. And with the future trends that will come along I believe that turbans will be a strong key item and we will see it in many magazines, look books and runways. After all it is pretty easy to tie a silky colorful scarf over your head, Et voila,  a stylish Turban.
