Lately, the activewear niche has received tremendous spotlight in relations to runways. Alexander Wang was one of the designers who popularized the idea that athletic wear could
— and should — translate to the catwalk. However, this fall we can see straight from New York Fashion Week that Mr. Wang has decided,
after a very athletic runway in a collaboration with H&M, that tailored
clothes is back and it is definitely one of the things he does best!
Here are some guidelines from Alexander Wang's runway show from yesterday:
SILHOUETTE
& DESIGN//Bathrobe coats, Bias-cut skirts that swirled around, Quilted miniskirts, Sharply tailored culottes
DETAILS//Head-stomper combat boots, Sheer chain-mail skirts, Typical mélange of shearling, shirt-dresses, plaid and
pleats all in an elongated silhouette, Haute-ish grunge ethos, Studded fisherman’s sweater
COLOR//Almost all of it is black, White, Silver bombers
FABRIC//Silk-Satin pajamas suits, Leather T-shirts, Flak vests
CREATIVE “JARGON”//Edged or trimmed in gleaming ball bearings, Strung out along seams and hemlines and delineating
curves like so many heavy metal pearls, Stringy hairstyling
